The Left Ignores the Real Danger from Trump
A recent stupid US Supreme Court decision shows the real danger from President Donald J. Trump (R-Florida).
Trump derangement syndrome has so warped leftists’ and moderates’ minds that Republicans can implement extreme conservative policies and attract little attention. To elaborate, the Left, the chattering classes, and the media are too busy watching Trump’s political theater to notice dangerous developments in the courts.
The Supremes overturned New York State pandemic restrictions on houses of worship in two cases, The Washington Post reports. New York State restricted worship attendance to 10 people in red zones (areas with high-levels of coronavirus), and services to 25 people in orange zones (areas with moderate level of coronavirus).
In Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn v. Cuomo, theSupremes found those restrictions unconstitutional. The court combined that ruling with a second case they call Agudath Israel v. Cuomo.*
How Trump’s Supreme Court could infect hundreds of thousands with Coronavirus
The danger from this ruling is obvious; the Supreme Court just wrote a loophole big enough to drive a tank through into the coronavirus restrictions.
For example, any bar owner can hang a cross outside his establishment and call it a “church.” The bar owner can proclaim the bartender a “priest” and insist she is offering “communion” by serving drinks. Similarly, the tip jar can become the “collection plate.”
Thus, the bar can remain open and people will be inside drinking without masks because it is now a “house of worship.” Hundreds of people could get infected and authorities could be powerless to intervene.

Many of the faithful will naively believe that the church is safe because it is open and think God will protect them. Worst of all, corrupt preachers will spread the lie God will protect people at church to fill their collection plates.
“Justices of this court play a deadly game in second guessing the expert judgment of health officials about the environments in which a contagious virus, now infecting a million Americans each week, spreads most easily,” Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote in her dissent to Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn v. Cuomo.
How the Resistance Makes Conservatives More Powerful
The defendant, New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo (D-Queens) was not closing churches or preventing people from receiving mass.
Instead, Cuomo was trying to protect worshippers during a public health emergency. However, even those limited restrictions were too much for the libertarian extremists on today’s Supreme Court.
All three of President Trump’s Supreme Court nominees voted to block the New York restrictions, The Washington Post’s Robert Barnes notes. Thus, after four years of “leftist resistance” to Trump conservative extremists have the power to override reasonable actions made by the democratically elected governor of New York.
Disgustingly, a minority of Americans voted for the Senators who appoint U.S. Supreme Court Judges. For instance, The Atlantic claims 44% of Americans ratified Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s appointment.
Hence, the votes of the people of New York and the wishes of American people no longer matter. Instead, power is in the hands of a small clique of Federalist Society ideologues in Washington. Disturbingly, Democrats seem unwilling to take the power away from those extremists.
To explain, the US Supreme Court voted 5-4 in Agudath Israel v. Cuomo. Hence President Joe Biden (D-Delaware) can block future extremist actions by appointing two or three new Supreme Court Justices.
Biden Needs to Pack the US Supreme Court ASAP
Hence, Biden needs to pack the Supreme Court to prevent similar travesties.
I think Biden needs to appoint six new Supreme Court justices, if Democrats win the U.S. Senate Special elections in Georgia. That way there will be two Democratic judges on the court for each of Trump’s appointees. The Federalist Society fools will be a powerless minority, instead of a ruling cadre.
Unfortunately, I do not think Biden has the balls to pack the court. However, popular opinion could push Joe to pack. Democrats could have the power to pack the court because the nuclear option allows the Senate to nominate Supreme Court justices with a vote of 51 Senators.
I think Democrats could have 51 votes with independent US Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont), US Vice President Kamala Harris (D-California), and two Georgia seats.
How Trump Derangement Syndrome Helps Conservatives
Unfortunately, Democrats are not concentrating on the Georgia races which could give them the power to break the Federalist Society’s hold on the US Supreme Court. Instead, they are obsessing over President Trump’s meaningless antics.
To explain, there is no legal or practical way for Trump to stay in the White House after 20 January 2021. Since all the election challenges have collapsed, Trump will have to leave.
However, Trump’s hold on leftists’ brains is so strong they cannot see that truth. Instead, the left obsesses over Trump even as he deteriorates into a sick joke.
The Supreme Court shows how Trump derangement syndrome helps conservatives acquire power. To elaborate, the Left wastes its time in the political theater of “Resistance,” while Conservatives cement long-term power.
Hence, Trump’s true value to the Right is not as a leader but as a diversion. Conservative leaders can trust Trump and his clown circus to put on a meaningless show that leftists will obsess over.
How Trump Political Theater strengthens Mitch McConnell
The Stolen Election narrative is just the latest and craziest piece of meaningless Trump political theater. Frighteningly, Trump political theater will continue for years because the Donald will soon move his show to television and social media.
Consequently, the Left’s narrative will change from Resistance to “preventing a Second Trump Term.” The Resistance will brand anybody who criticizes the narrative a “traitor who helps Trump.” Meanwhile, sophisticated conservatives; such as the Federalist Society, will be free to cement power in other ways.
US Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) could strike deals with his friend President Biden. McConnell could push a massive stimulus package through the Senate in exchange for Biden’s pledge not to pack the Supreme Court, for instance.
McConnell could offer Biden the horrendous deal, “give me the courts or let Americans starve.” Biden could have to go along because the US Census Bureau estimates 26 million Americans could go hungry this winter. I think the only solution to that problem is another massive stimulus package, including more $1,200 checks for ordinary Americans.
If hunger continues to worsen, I think America could experience widespread civil unrest as hungry mobs pillage the supermarkets and storm government buildings. I predict America will experience food riots by February if Congress fails to act. In that scenario, Biden will have no choice but to play McConnell’s game – if Republicans retake the Senate.
Yet the Left will be silent because nobody will want to “help Trump’s reelection efforts” by criticizing Biden. Trump will play his part by putting on an obnoxious show on Fox News, MSNBC, YouTube, and Trump TV and holding huge rallies in red states.
The Strange Future of the Supreme Court
I think Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn v. Cuomopoints to a bizarre future for the US Supreme Court.
Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. opposed the majority decision. Roberts; a responsible old-fashioned conservative, noted that Cuomo had eased restrictions. Roberts, the true conservative, sided with the court’s three liberals.
I think Roberts fears the public will blame the court for increased levels of infection and the resulting deaths. Frighteningly, Roberts thinks the Court is violating the Constitution by usurping the authority of other branches of government.
“It is a significant matter to override determinations made by public health officials concerning what is necessary for public safety in the midst of a deadly pandemic,” Roberts wrote in his dissent.
In detail, I believe Roberts thinks pandemic response is the executive branch’s job. The Chief Justice fears a future in which judges will tell teachers how to teach, firefighters how to fight fires, and the generals how to fight the next war. I think those fears are legitimate. Unfortunately, Roberts’ “conservative” colleagues disagree.
Therefore, we could face a bizarro future in which John Roberts becomes a leftwing hero and the new Ruth Bader Ginsburg. To elaborate, I think future leftists could lionize Roberts for standing up to the Federalist Society and fighting its efforts to politicize the courts.
The times are getting strange because all Americans need to learn fear both the courts and Trump Derangement Syndrome.
